ACANTUR is a non-profit association ruled by the texts of the organic law 1/2002 of march 23rd, regulating of the straight of association and the law 4/2003 of february 28th, for canaries associations, which began its activity in December 1992. It works as a pool of convergence and representation for the islands' associations for rural tourism of La Palma, Tenerife, La Gomera, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura y El Hierro. The total number of beds offered by our red of hotels and rural lodgings is now over 1.200.
In ACANTUR, we aim to develop a balanced development of an offer of tourism conform to the proper ruralship models and the projects where are used and promoted familial managing, contact with the locals, and direct relation with the genuine way of life of our villages.
The only type of lodging included in ACANTUR comes from rehabilitation or restoration of ancient houses, which appears to us as the best way of helping rural ship development in a perspective of sustainibility and integration.
Its consolidation as an organization and its numbers of members leads ACANTUR to manage the promotion and distribution of the global offer. For a few years, it's been attending the major spanish and european fairs and workshops.
ACANTUR is one of the groups who founded the Spanish Association for Rural Tourism (ASETUR), in which it participates in organizing, integrating and promoting the rural tourism national offer.
Today, the main goal for ACANTUR is to improve the levels of tourist and environmental quality in the lodgings it federates. To reach that, we not only collaborate with the use of Rural Houses Quality System ("Q for quality"), but we also develop our own evaluation and improvement programs. |
