Casco urbano de AguloAgulo is one of the smallest villages of la Gomera and presents 2 parts clealy different. The reduced lower part, where is situated the village of Agulo itself and the pittoresque Lepe suburb, is situated in the inside of an impressive semicircular hollow, down the walls of which the water cascade into waterfalls on rainy days. The town centre, founded in the 1620's, is formed by the neighbourhoods of El Charco, Las casas and La Montañeta, all good examples of the popular architecture of La Gomera.

Terras rojas y el Teide al fondo The upper part, with the hamlets of Las Rosas, La Palmita, Meriga and Cruz de Tierno, nearby to the National Park, is economically based on the cultivation of orchards and vegetable gardens, propitiated by the benign climate of the area. Its simple and friendly people keeps making the most authentical handicrafts in the island.

The Garajonay National Park Visitors' center is situated in Juego de Bolas, in La Palmita area. The building offers 3 exhibition rooms whith a very complete information over the national park and the whole island, tthrough panels, photos, screens, maps and reductions.
Regularly, a film is shown that resume in images all the sceneries and culture of the island. It also boasts a thematical bookshop.
In the outside, the gardens show a vast representation of the canarian flora with a lot of gomero endemisms, as well as plants used in the popular medicine or as gastronomical condiments.

The ethnografical museum keeps many tracks of the traditional culture : inside of a peasant's house, working tools, wine store-room,...
The handicrafts' workshops joined to the Center allow you to see for real the way of working with the different raw materials : clay, ristra, weaving, wicker-work ..
